Overview
Spanish Verb Master helps you practice Spanish verb conjugations. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Voice Mode (if enabled) has additional disclosures because it can record audio.
Data we collect
- Account and subscription data: information you provide to create an account (such as email) and your subscription status.
- Learning data: your selected verbs, tense/pronoun practice choices, review history, and practice outcomes used to time future practice.
- Voice Mode data (optional Plus feature, if enabled):
If you enable Voice Mode, we may collect and process:
- Microphone audio clips of your spoken answers.
- Transcripts generated from speech-to-text.
- Attempt metadata such as duration, clip size, MIME type, match outcome, and model identifiers.
- Form metadata (verb, tense, pronoun) used to generate prompts and grade answers.
- Text-to-speech prompt and feedback audio output (not stored by default).
- Support data: information you submit through support or feedback forms.
- Device and usage data: operational logs that include request timing and status. We do not log raw audio or transcript text (see Logging below).
- Product analytics data (PostHog): if analytics are enabled, we collect events such as page views and feature usage to understand how the app is used and improve it. This may include device/browser information and an IP-derived approximate location. If you are signed in, we may associate events with your account ID and store your email as a profile property.
- Local device storage: we store limited preferences in your browser (for example, a flag to remember that you have enabled Voice Mode) and analytics identifiers (for example, a PostHog cookie or localStorage entry).
How we use data
- Provide and personalize the core learning experience.
- Time and grade practice sessions using deterministic review-timing rules.
- If you enable Voice Mode, transcribe spoken answers and generate audio prompts and feedback.
- If you enable Voice Mode, show a transcript of what we heard to support grading and user review.
- Understand usage patterns and improve product experience and performance.
- Monitor quality, accuracy, and system health, including cost and spend monitoring.
- Respond to support requests and maintain account security.
Voice Mode disclosures
Voice Mode is an optional feature. If you enable it, it records your voice and sends it to OpenAI to transcribe your answer and generate audio prompts or feedback. By enabling and using Voice Mode, you acknowledge and consent to the following:
- We record your voice and transmit it to OpenAI for speech-to-text processing.
- If you enable voice data storage, we store your recordings and transcripts to improve accuracy and monitor quality.
- You can withdraw consent at any time; we stop storing new voice data immediately.
- You can delete your voice data (recordings and transcripts) from your account.
- Audio playback is AI-generated and labeled as an AI voice in the product.
- Use Voice Mode in a private setting and avoid recording other people. Headphones are recommended to reduce echo and accidental capture of prompt audio.
If you don’t enable Voice Mode, we don’t request microphone permission and we don’t collect microphone audio.
Your browser will also ask for microphone permission, which you can manage in your browser settings.
Retention and deletion
- Voice recordings: retained for up to 30 days by default when you have enabled voice data storage.
- Voice transcripts and attempt metadata: retained for up to 180 days by default.
- Aggregated metrics: may be kept longer because they do not include raw audio or transcript text.
- TTS audio output: generated for playback and not stored by default.
You can delete all stored voice data at any time. If you withdraw consent, we stop storing new voice recordings and transcripts immediately, and existing data remains only until the retention period ends or you delete it.
Logging and error tracking
We log limited operational data for Voice Mode to keep the service reliable. Allowed logging includes request timing, clip size, MIME type, duration, model names, HTTP status, and coarse outcomes (such as exact, accent-insensitive, wrong, or give-up). We do not log raw audio, raw transcripts, or user-provided text. Error tracking systems are configured to avoid capturing audio or transcript content. Operational logs and metrics are retained for up to 30 days.
Sharing and processors
We share data only with service providers who help us run the app. If you enable Voice Mode, we use OpenAI as a processor for speech-to-text and text-to-speech. Audio and transcript data are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI may retain API data for a limited period for abuse monitoring and safety, subject to their policies and our organization settings.
We also use the following providers to operate and improve the service:
- Supabase: authentication and database services.
- Stripe: web payments and subscription management.
- RevenueCat: in-app subscriptions on iOS/Android.
- Resend: transactional email delivery.
- PostHog: product analytics (page views and feature usage).
- Sentry: error tracking (when enabled).
We do not intentionally send microphone audio or transcript text to PostHog or Sentry.
Your choices
- Enable or disable Voice Mode at any time.
- Withdraw consent and stop storing new voice data immediately.
- Delete all stored voice data from your account.
- Manage microphone permissions through your browser settings.
- Clear local device storage (cookies/localStorage) to remove saved preferences and reset analytics identifiers.
